Why and how to create a great contact form in WordPress?

Why you need a contact form on your website?

Have you ever wondered why you need a contact form on your website? While it might seem easier just to display your email address, having a contact form is essential. In this article, we’ll share the reasons why having a contact form matters for your website, especially the e-commerce website

Security is one reason why you need a contact form.

The most important reason to have a form on your website is to reduce spam and keep your site secure.  When you publish your email address, you’re more likely to get unwanted email.

Robots crawl the internet looking for exposed email addresses. Any email address they find may end up in the hands of spammers. Next thing you know, your inbox is flooded with offers for all sorts of unwanted items.

To prevent that, we suggest using a free contact form plugin to build a simple form for your contact page.

For help, see our tutorial on how to add an email form to your website.

Want some extra security? You can also include a reCAPTCHA checkbox to stop robots dead in their tracks.

You want to make things easy for your users. When visitors can easily find your form and reach out without opening their email software, they will be more likely to contact you instead of seeking a competitor.

Keep your contact forms easy to find, and easy for visitors to use.

To best help visitors contacting you, you may need to collect some extra information from them.

With a contact form, you can easily require details such as their phone number or what product or service they’re inquiring about

Using a contact form will help you to keep all your inquiries in one place, instead of mixed up with all your other emails.

This will help you to quickly spot frequently asked questions or common issues.

Then you can add that information to your website or place signage around your store for clarity.

Contact Forms Are Multifunctional

Contact forms can serve a number of purposes. Of course, all those purposes involve having a two-way communication. You can use contact forms for feedback, support queries, business proposal, sales query, and so much more with just a simple form that is accessible to your visitor.

If you’re an amateur blogger and you’re trying to break through the noise, you would want your readers to provide you with constant feedback. The WordPress community is very engaging and they do not hesitate in expressing their thoughts. Your visitors would want to point out mistakes or improvements and the best way to do that is with a WordPress contact form.

Great Tool For Networking

With contact forms, you are not only providing a platform to your visitors to get in touch with you, you are also building a network of people that have similar interests and can benefit you in the long-run.

Since you are receiving a number of emails on various topics, you can identify a sender as a potential business opportunity and get in touch with him on a more personal level.

Since contact forms look more professional, potential business partners will find it more appealing to contact you through a contact form rather than an email address.

Contact Forms Can Help You Grow Your Subscriber List

In the world of internet marketing, a well-scrubbed email list is gold.

Whether you’re selling a product or service online, or have a local restaurant or store, an email list to market to can be extremely crucial in helping you grow sales.

There are many ways to grow an email list, but an added method can be done with your contact form.

We’ve all seen this before—You’re filling out a form to contact a company, or maybe you’re buying a product, and right before you hit that submit button there’s a check box that states, “Subscribe to our email newsletter.”

This can easily be done with your contact form, increasing your subscriptions in a nonintrusive way.

Contact Forms Can Send an Auto-Response to Users

When a user contacts you through your website, it’s nice to let them know that you received their message. A contact form makes this a breeze to achieve. Having an automated email response at the top of a user’s inbox is a much better reminder that they contacted you then having to look in their sent email box (because how often do you actually look at your sent mail?).

When to use the contact form?

A contact form can be used for just about anything you can think of but here are a few examples of reasons to use a contact form:

  • Feedback: This is a contact form that is used for general comments from your visitors
  • Questions: This form allows visitors to contact you with various questions they may have relating to your business
  • Service/ Information Request: If your business sells a service, or product your customers can use this to inquire for more information.
  • Some of the major benefits to using a contact form:
  • Reduce Spam: since contact forms are handled server side and your email address is not readily available spammers cannot harvest it as easily and this is much safer than using the mailto: “tag”
  • Information control: Since you specify the information you’d like from the customer you can capture the exact information you want from them
  • Consistency: Since all the information is provided to you the same way, the emails from the contact form are consistent and can help you stay organized.

What makes a great contact form?

The contact form is typically the gateway to allow people to submit their information to a company. This is the gateway for the consumer to initiate a conversation with your company.

A simple contact form that you often see.

However, your WordPress contact form is the main point of contact between you and your users - a tenuous link between your company and a new client. So your forms need to be more than just functional. They need to be visually appealing, even beautiful!

So what makes a great contact form?

The following I would like to offer 10 things to make a beautiful contact form.

100% responsive forms:

Your WordPress forms will always look great on any size device like PC, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile. It will help customers have a better experience, easy to complete information and also help search engines evaluate your website is friendly, helpful for SEO.

Optimized for speed:

It doesn’t negatively impact the page speed of your site. If adding a contact form affects your page load speed, it’s not worth it, not a single customer who is patient enough to wait for more than 5 minutes to complete a form.

Full information, all the information important is required.

Do not think that the shorter the form is, the better it is. Not so, the long or short form depends on the purpose of the form, not too superficial with the information. You do not understand what the customer is saying to you, especially contact information is required.

Whether to you make the contact template with the destination entries, the pattern form is also a tool for you and the transaction clients with the same, that you can be understand as a customer needs to be required, the missing the following client comments are not accept.

Archive the contact form on the website:

Contact forms will be stored directly on the website and you can sort, view and export them whenever you need, which is great if you combine them with CRM tools to manage your data. and use them for a variety of purposes.

Upload file:

Customers can easily send you the download file directly to the contact form without having to open the email to do so. It is really necessary and time saving for you and your customers

Make sure the interaction is real: The captcha form will ensure that the contact person is the one who has the real need, be your potential customer, avoid the time-consuming contact that is not effective.

Security: We will not know the automatic access system or robots after accessing the website will do next, some kind of “benign” robot, not only harmful but also many malicious elements bring high risk to the site. So using CAPTCHA is one way to prevent this from happening.

Fighting spam, using CAPTCHA can help them limit this.

Keep it real

Remember that a contact form is the beginning of a real, human interaction. The more inviting your form is, the better.

The contact form on Teabox.com is a great example of a friendly contact form. It’s warm, welcoming and human. The message sounds like it could be coming from a friend. On top of that, it encourages the visitor to leave their thoughts.

Now imagine the opposite.

Picture being greeted with a message like “Contact us by filling out the form below.” Doesn’t that sound bland and impersonal? If someone is on the fence about contacting you, then a real, reassuring intro message can make all the difference.

Take a moment and think about your favorite brands. Why are they your favorite? Sure, you like their products, but there’s more to it. There’s something that separates them from their competitors. Chances are, it’s their voice that you’re a fan of.

Your contact page is another (often overlooked) opportunity to show off your brand’s personality. Don’t let it slip away.

When it comes to the perfect contact form, the key is to make sure your form is personable, relevant, professional, and easy to understand.

Really, that’s what most of us want from a design experience of any kind. And since we’re finding that there is a strong connection between first impression and overall quality of design, it’s important that every aspect of a website impresses the visitor.

After all, contact forms are one of the best ways for people to get in touch with you. Make sure you’re keeping visitors engaged by creating a beautiful form. That way, they won’t abandon their form or forget about it entirely.
